Boca 45 aka has toured the world djing, he has walked away from a major label contract for reasons of artistic integrity, his music was featured on the soundtrack of Banksy’s mockumentary Exit through the Giftshop, and that’s not even half of his cv. Let’s find out more about him.
Once you’ve got used to the Scottish accent, and believe me, when I first met Keb, I made him spell out his address over the phone, you can get some entertaining stories from a couple of decades of record collecting and djing out of him. Anyway, one afternoon, we sat down for a cup of tea and here are two stories that he told me.
Walk and Skank! This is one of those tunes which you know even if you think that you’ve never heard of it. You have. Trust me. SL2’s On A Ragga Tip and countless remixes that keep coming out to this day make sure of that. I just had to ask Jah Screechy about his involvement with sound systems and the history of Walk and Skank.

Today’s interview is with Al Fingers who was involved in a lot more things that I know than I knew of. Makes me feel a little ignorant but what can you do… Hip hop fans may remember Fat Boss Magazine. If it was a good month, my local record shop used to stock one or two copies of that and it used to be my favourite hip hop magazine. The shop is long gone now and so is the magazine. Al produced it. Then there’s this big, beautiful book about Disruptive Pattern Material released by Hardy Blechman’s Maharishi label. Al Fingers wrote this. So instead of embarrassing myself any further, I steered our conversation to something I know at least a little something about.
